Press Release Summary: Legal & General's general insurance business annual online survey, 'Safe as Houses', which asks people for feedback and their views on home security and safety, aims to highlight the safety of UK homes.
Press Release Body: The financial underwritings meant for critical illness cover and life insurance has been increased by Legal & General. This has finally made the underwriting process further simple and extends to policies being issued more swiftly. For life insurance the fresh limits are GBP800,000 as compared to previous limits of GBP600,000. In case of critical illness cover the limits are GBP500,000 which was previously GBP350,000. Financial evidence which can include the earnings of a client and supporting information such as loan offer letter are not needed up to these sums.
Russ Whitworth, Underwriting and Claims Director said: "We are always looking for ways to improve our underwriting process and get customers on risk quickly and with a minimum of fuss. We also recognise that there is a perception in the industry that financial underwriting can be a complicated and time-consuming process, in part because some providers have high financial underwriting limits yet still ask for detailed financial information on every application form. We've therefore listened to our customers and simplified the process by only asking for detailed financial information for very high sums assured. "Our new financial underwriting limits are market leading and therefore advisers and their clients will get a slicker service from Legal & General."
You have to answer just four particular financial questions to apply for life insurance between GBP800,000 and GBP1.5 million and for CIC applications between GBP500,000 and GBP800,000. Much detailed financial evidence will be required beyond these limits set by Legal & General.
For the heightened risk to an insurer who has large sums assured, the financial underwriting limit system has been brought into place. This is the basic standard in the insurance and protection industry and the criteria for financial underwriting are available for free in the Legal & General Advisor Centre: http://www.legalandgeneral.com/advisercentre/index.html
